The Yarmouth-Bar Harbor Ferry In the 1830s, Halifax was a thriving commercial and industrial city, which carried on a brisk trade with such US Atlantic Seaboard centers as: Boston, New York, Baltimore, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville and Miami. The winter crossing from Halifax to these markets was perilous. Many men and ships were lost. At that time, a group of Halifax businessmen formulated a project to build a railway line from their city, to the town of Yarmouth, in south west Nova Scotia. The idea was to unload the trains into ferries and take the safe route across to Bar Harbor, Maine. From there, their industrial production could travel by carriage or rail, to their traditional markets. The success of this endeavor prompted these same men to propose building rail lines into NB, to the head of the Woods Island ferry to PEI and to the ferry head at North Sydney, so as to connect up with NFLD. In their wake, the politicians climbed on the bandwagon and proposed a political union of these four Atlantic Societies. To this end, the Atlantic Union Conference was held in Charlottetown, in 1866. Not long ago, King Chretien and his Upper & Lower Canadian lackeys announced that they were discontinuing the Yarmouth-Bar Harbor ferry. During the 1930s & 40s, Canadian history books showed pictures of Upper & Lower Canada locked in a close huddle, while they delivered mule kicks to Nova Scotia. During the 50a & 60s, the history books showed Upper & Lower Canada milking a cow together, which was shitting on Nova Scotia. Why have Upper & Lower Canada again spit on Nova Scotia? Do King Chretien and his gang of hermaphrodites want to: a) further throttle the Nova Scotia economy by cutting off the lucrative summer tourist trade from the eastern United States? b) pay New Brunswick, with the US summer tourist trade, for electing their chief to the Commons? c) punish Nova Scotians for their lady MP, who followed the teachings of Deuteronomy and The Corinthians and consequently voted against their fee-fee legislation? d) deprive Nova Scotians of all contact with Americans? How long is this going to go on? How long are Nova Scotians going to be yoked by this alien word, Canadian, which is being forced on them by the St. Lawrence Valley? It is so obvious that this association with Upper and Lower Canada has not worked out. Nova Scotians should immediate demand and obtain a right of veto, so that they can block all federal legislation that is nefarious to them. They should demand and obtain control of immigration, so that they can impose a visa on Upper and Lower Canadians wanting to come into their territory. Additionally, they should demand and obtain control of their international affairs, so that they can begin negotiations with their neighbors and once again take up their rightful place among the New England states. Nova Scotians must be in a political union with their friends, their cousins and with the home land of their ancestors, in stead of being ground into the dirt, under the twin heels of Upper & Lower Canada.
