This is a formal request for discussion. Please distribute it
on all platforms that might be interested. You are strongly
encouraged to participate in the *discussion* about the
possible creation of the newsgroup "can.med.paramedics", in
the sole newsgroup, "can.config". Please do not post or cross-
post your discussion contributions to other newsgroups. The
RFD will be posted to other newsgroups in order to inform
interested persons to post in "can.config". Please see the end
of this document for a list of newsgroups the RFD was posted
to.

Proposed Newsgroup Line:    Discussion of Emergency Health     
                            Services-Prehospital.


Charter:

Can.med.paramedics will be an unmoderated discussion group on all
aspects of Emergency Health Services, Pre-hospital in Canada.
This can include, but is not limited to case discussions,
distribution of new information, and discussion of the practice
environment. The intended audience for this proposed group would
be paramedics, ambulance officers and other pre-hospital
emergency care personnel.

Rationale:

This newsgroup will allow pre-hospital care personnel from coast
to coast to discuss issues, sharing ideas. A place to locate help
on a topic, talk about unique Canadian EMS issues and learn from
on another. The existing newsgroup, misc.emerg-services is a
great group with very knowledgeable participants, but due to it's
high volume posting and broad scope of discussion a more focused
Canadian newsgroup is needed. 

Procedure:

Please post any responses to this message to only the
"can.config" newsgroup. All discussion about the merits of this
proposal should appear on "can.config".


Distribution:

I have sent copies of this RFD to numerous sites including
ambulance associations throughout Canada. Since this proposed
group is Canada wide I felt each province should receive the RFD
in their "general" newsgroup.
