I have sound problem in the 2 storyes residential building which never happened when floors were finished up with carpet. Recently a buyer asked to change floor finish from carpet to wood flooring and since he moved in, the existing resident in downstair has been complaining about the noise from the upstair. I have to do something to resolve the problem urgently. Original floor assembly was - Floor finish (carpet or wood flooring) - 3/4" gypsum concrete over - 3/4" T&G wood panel sheathing over joists - 4" batt acoustical insulation - 2 layers 5/8" type'X' GWB on resilient clips. I will be appreciating any kind of advice. Recommendation of books, references on this kind of sound problem also to be appreciated. - Young K
