footing on ledge with water

I'm putting a porch on the front of my house.  I need to pour five footings.
Have dug to 30" (I'm from VT four foot frost line) and have about a foot of
water.  What would be the easiest way to get concrete footing on the ledge
with the water there.  It fills fairly quickly.  Any suggestions would be
helpful.  Thanks!  lcmh@sover.net
