What Iridology Can show and Not Show
There are many claims that have been made with iridology to what it can show
us in regards to the human body. Although this list is far from complete, It
is believed that a least 80% of iridologist are in agreement with these
findings listed here. With continued research & development in iridology,
there will be many more valuable findings that will lead to future
modifications of this list.

37. The condition of tissues in any part of the body at one time
38. Overall resistance to disease
39. The relationship of symptoms in the body
40. The body's response to treatment, whether a particular therapy is working
41. The accuracy of Hering's Law of Cure
42. The difference between a disease\healing crisis
43. Adrenal exhaustion
44. The whole, overall, health level of the body
2.02 What Iridology Cannot Show
1. Whether the subject is male or female
2. Diseases by name
3. What surgical operations a person has had
4. Pregnancy
5. Whether a tumor is present and what size it is
6. The presence of kidney stones or gallstones
7. The presence of AIDS
8. Whether a cardiac artery is blocked
9. Differences between drug side effects & disease symptoms
10. Whether hemorrhage exists
11. Blood pressue levels, blood sugar levels, and other specific diagnostic
findings & lab results
12. What kind of drugs\medications an individual has taken
13. Uric acid levels in the body
14. The time and cause of an injury
15. The number of organs with which a person was born with
16. The presence of yeast infections
17. Whether surgery is necessary
18. What foods a person does or does not eat specifically
19. The correlation between tissue inflammation and specific diseases or
symptoms of disease. Iridology cannot diagnose disease!
20. The presence of lead, mercury, alumininum, coal tar, cadmium, or
any other metallic elements in the body

Glossary of Terms
A2.
* A *
ACQUIRED CONDITION: To gain possession of; a condition in the body that has been
created after birth usually from poor lifestyle; a lesion or marking in the iris
that was not present at birth.
ACUTE: A highly active stage with a short course; rapid metabolism with rapid
use of nutrients and rapid production of waste material.
ANALYSIS: A separation of an intellectual or substantial whole into its parts so
as to find out their nature, function, etc.; a statement on these findings.
AUTOINTOXICATION: Toxins which are produced by the body, when not eliminated,
settle into different organs (usually the weaker organs) and result in a form of
self-poisoning.
* B *
BALLOONING: An expanded area of the bowel due to the build-up of gas and fecal
material.
* C *
CATARRH: Inflammation of mucus membranes with a resulting free discharge of
mucus.
CHEMICAL DEFICIENCIES: Lacking or insufficiency of an essential biochemical
element that is needed in the body.
CHEST BRAIN: The medulla or brain stem which controls heart and respiratory
functions.
CHRONIC: Persevering for a long time; an unhealthy state showing little change
or slow progress over a long period of time; a weak cell metabolism where cells
do not take in nutrients or excrete wastes effectively.
CONSTITUTION: The inherent make up or strength of the body metabolism, symbolic
of the body's resistive powers; interpreted in the iris by fiber density and
quality.
CRISIS, DISEASE: A severe illness , usually lasting over three days accompanied
by constipation and other forms of poor elimination.
CRISIS, HEALING: A one to three day illness accompanied by a heavy elimination
that rids the body of toxins and improves the health; usually a re-experience
of an old suppressed illness or disease.
* D *
DEGENERATIVE: Tissue destruction as cell metabolism becomes overloaded with
wastes and unable to take in new nutrients; usually associated with an
insufficient amount of metabolism to that area and loss of function.
* E *
ENERVATION: Lack of nervous energy; to deprive of strength or vitality.
* H *
HEALING LINES: Small white cross fibers that appear in the iris as tissues
regain metabolic strength and integrity.
HYPER: Very increased; excessive.
HYPO: Under or decreased; deficient; lowest state of oxidation.
* I *
INFLAMMATION: A tissue response to cell destruction involving a change in
fluid level and circulation with resulting change in metabolism and heat
production.
INHERENT WEAKNESS: A weakness in the body that is characteristic from an
ancestor.
INNERVATION: Supply of nervous energy to the organs vital to their proper tone
and function; served by a large and complex bundle of nerves.
INTEGRITY, TISSUE: The state of tissue being unimpaired; soundness; whole;
complete; tissue correction; the specific language of Iridology. Restoration
of tissue integrity is a major goal in Iridology.
IRIDOLOGY: The science and practice of revealing inflammation, where it is
located in the body and at what stage it is displaying. The iris reveals
constitution, inherent weaknesses, levels of health, and the transition that
occurs in the individual according to the way they live.
* M *
MIASMA: A polluted atmosphere.
* N *
NEURO-OPTIC REFLEX STUDY: Iridology analysis.
NEURAL ARC REFLEX: A genetically determined reflex condition in the body where
conditions in the bowel and intestines affect organs in the body.
* O *
OVER ACTIVITY, TISSUE: Tissue that is active to an excessive or abnormal degree.
* R *
REVERSAL PROCESS: The biochemical process within the body tissues of removing
unnatural chemicals and suppressed wastes as the body re-establishes favorable
chemical balance.
* S *
SPASTIC: Characterized by spasms, stricture or tightening of muscles.
SUB ACUTE: Between acute and chronic; moderate amount of metabolic activity
slightly under normal.
SUPPRESSION: Sudden stoppage of secretion, excretion or normal discharges from
the body; To put an end forcibly; restricting drastically in effectiveness.
* T *
TONUS: The normal state of slight contraction of the pupil which is affected by
innervation of the autonomic nervous system.
TOXIC SETTLEMENTS: The presence of toxic material or inorganic chemicals in a
specific tissue / area in the body.
* U *
UNDER ACTIVITY, TISSUE: Tissue with low level metabolic response.
* V *
VITAL ENERGY: The power within the body that comes from the usage of nutrients
through body metabolism in the cells and tissues.
