Dear List members: Please note, I am dismayed that National's webpage for the SGM ( http://www.cips.ca/communications/sgm ) is very biased towards the National Board as it does not contain any of Steve Gallinger's information (except for that provided on his 3 page position statement in 'SGM Package'). Since National has not been cooperative at allowing Steve's information on the National site, you must go to Steve's personal site at ( http://24.112.35.70/cips ) to find 'the rest of the story'. For instance, the National site contains the National's FAQ but not Steve's Counter FAQ which shows clear errors in National's FAQ. In Members Comments, you must page past pages of bravo National before you come to anything of dismay towards National (and even then it is only mild). You see Bill's, Ken's commentarys and Kewal's letter - shouldn't these be on the 'what Members are saying' page? Even the covering letter states a error. It states "Mr. Gallinger and 56 other CIPS members have therefore submitted a petition ...". Mr. Gallinger did NOT submit the original petition as this statement implies - another CIPS member (in good standing) submitted this petition of which 56 other CIPS members (including Steve) signed (electronically). FYI, the original petition was actually developed by a group of CIPS members. You will also notice that it states "The issue before you is one of confidence or non-confidence in your elected Board of Directors ..." and "... will result in multiple resignations from National Board members". This is indicative of the big bully schoolyard attitude of 'if you won't play my way then I won't play at all'. This is childish. The intent of the motions is to put an unbiased third party process in place to heal a very bad wound in CIPS. Before you make your decision on the SGM motions, I beg you please look at BOTH sides of information. Ask yourself: Was this whole issue handled fairly? Was the dismissal due to 'just and sufficient cause' (or possibly just personal politics which started prior your last May vote)? I know the information is massive - that's because this issue before you is not minor and has escalated out of proportion. Make the time and cast your vote. Doug Swift <das@unb.ca> CIPS Fredericton Section PS. My personal opinion is that, due to the biasness and conflict of interest issues, the National web site should only contain the 'SGM package' if it can't contain both sides of the dispute.
