In the 1950's the US government declared Indonesian President Sukarno an enemy of the US state and begun paying the Indonesian military. In 1961 the Indonesian military invade the Dutch protectorate of West Papua, and the US threatens trade sanctions against the Dutch and Australians if they object to the invasion and occupation. In 1965 a General Suharto seizes power and starts putting to death tens of thousands of pro-democracy advocates; the US provides training, weapons, and compiles lists of suspected "Communist" operatives. Torture is routine and death squads murder at will from 500,000 to more than one million, with 750,000 political prisoners. General Suharto's military regime rule for the next thirty years, while still receiving US military aid. In 1967 the United States gains exclusive mining rights in West Papua, removes the local population and opens the worlds largest gold and copper mine which still exports to the United States in 2003. Without doubt every American would know the name of the worlds largest gold & copper mine, and the country in which people are still routinly tortured and killed to maintain it; yet the US media remains silent for over thirty five years. In 1975 only hours after Pres. Ford and Henry Kissinger leave Jakarta, Indonesia invades East Timor with US blessings, after nearly twenty five years of occupation n 1999 a vote is allowed; with Indonesian military watching over 90% of the population risk their lives to vote, three quarters vote for independence. In the aftermath, the Indonesian military and militia burn the Capital, Dili, and the country's infrastructure to the ground. Thosands are slaughter. In July 1998 proof reaches the West that the Indonesian authorities had massacre over 150 people in the West Papuan town of Biak for raising a West Papuan flag (the "Morning Star", single star on red left field with blue and white stripes on the right). Indonesian Defence Minister General Wiranto, denounced the flag-raising as a "revolt against the government" and sent in troops from Ambon island to conduct the slaughter. Soldiers opened fire on a crowd, hauled residents from their homes, beat and tortured scores of people, including children; later naval gunships dumped the bodies at sea. But this time, outside witnesses were able to report the event, two Australian aid workers, Rebecca Casey and Paul Meixner, interviewed survivors and took photographs and video footage of the scene of the shootings. In 2000, a Swiss reporter saw first hand an Indonesian jail in West Papua, http://www.nzz.ch/dossiers/2001/westpapua/2000.12.22-engl-article72F07.html In 2001 the U.S. decide to continue military aid to Indonesia; so too does the gold & copper continue to flow to the US. East Timor was the second shame Australia had to bear; West Papua is the original, the point at which we bent to US will and turned our backs upon human right & wrong. I ask all Australians to handle humanitarian issues in order and put the West Papuan issue first. We should have taken the issue to the UN over thirty years ago, people & cultures & environments are dieing. reference documents include: http://www.american.edu/TED/IRIAN.HTM http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/cline/papua/core.htm http://www.eco-action.org/opm/ http://www.converge.org.nz/wpapua/ http://www.house.gov/faleomavaega/ST-papua.htm http://commdocs.house.gov/committees/intlrel/hfa52039.000/hfa52039_0.htm#12 http://usembassy-australia.state.gov/hyper/2001/0226/epf113.htm refer: indiscriminate, shooting of civilians, torture, rape, beatings and other abuse http://usinfo.state.gov/regional/ea/timor/pick909.htm refer: Irian Jaya at bottom of page http://purl.access.gpo.gov/GPO/LPS10941 http://www.ma.utexas.edu/users/guilfoyl/irpar.html http://www.nativenet.uthscsa.edu/archive/nl/9407/0212.html http://www.byuh.edu/library/pacislands/melan/IrianJaya.html http://www.wvu.edu/~lawfac/jelkins/ej/ejassign8.htm http://www.american.edu/TED/ice/jayamine.htm http://maroon.loyno.edu/041400/editorials/letter1.html http://dosfan.lib.uic.edu/ERC/frus/summaries/950306_FRUS_XXIII_1961-63.html

Let's pester the General Assembly of the UN to disarm America, bring US leaders and military personel to trial for war crimes, return sovereignty of self government to the individual states, (elimination of US GOVERNMENT)calculate a schedule of reparations the states must pay to aggrieved nations. There is no greater scourge on the face of the earth than the US GOVERNMENT.

If some other nations like France had any balls, then we would not be in this position. The United Nations would take a decade to figure out the words. By that time there would be zero need as they will not exist in their present incompetent form. The United States is doing the right thing by ridding the world of a despot. Other Dictators will take note and are likely to temper their desires. That brings world peace. Appeasement does not. > > There is no greater scourge on the face of the earth than the US > GOVERNMENT. The United States rehabilitates nations, then leaves, not like previous Napolean and Hitler.

The US should continue funding an Islamic army that hates the US and all western societies? Please explain to me what a West Papuan has ever done to justify Freeport Inc. and the US backed Indonesian army occupying their land.
