CALLING ALL GREAT YOUNG CANADIANS BETWEEN THE AGES OF NINE AND
SIXTEEN!

I know you. You're what they call an "achiever". You're
incredibly smart, imaginative, quirky, quarky, inventive,
enterprising, off-the-wall, athletic, musical, artistic. You're
a mover and a shaker. You get things done. You're just plain
interesting!

Wanna know more about me?

Well... I'm a television producer and I'm looking for your story
to include in a proposal for a television series that celebrates
Canada's young people.

Your story must be about something you're doing with your life.
Something that takes talent, personal courage, drive, ambition or
stick-to-it-ive-ness. Maybe you're an inventor. Maybe you're a
political activist of international repute. Maybe you've adopted
and tamed a wild boar (okay, I know, I know...). Maybe you've
won a national award. The Order of Canada, maybe? But let me
make it clear. There are few awards, but many stories. No award
is necessary to send in your story.

You're a social activist. You're the young guy who went to India
to spread his message against child labour. You're courageous,
like Helen Keller. You're inspirational, like Anne Frank.

For once you get to be totally egotistical and the center of the
universe. So blow your own horn whether you're from the city,
the country, the fishing village, down on the farm or up north!

And just in case you're wondering whether or not your story fits
in?

Think hockey, science, community service, wheelchair basketball,
recording your music, chess, dancing, swimming, gymnastics,
writing your book, bravery, extraordinary friendships,
extraordinary families.

Think about the anti-smoking campaign you're proposing for
McDonalds. Think about the recycling brigade you've started up in
your community. Think about your role in the government of this
country. Think about what you, as a new Canadian, are
contributing to our cultural mosaic. These are just off the top
of my head. I know your ideas are much better.

And don't stick to this planet! Think outer space, aliens, space
stations, vacations on the moon... are you reaching out?

This is great Canadian storytelling and it's your story!

Oh... and the only criteria are that it be young, real and
Canadian.

If what you are doing will move other Canadians to laugh, cry,
reflect or take action... or, best of all, if it will simply make
us proud to be your fellow countrymen, then send it to me and I
will...

use it in a proposal for a national television series about
Canada's youth. Who knows? If the ideas and stories are
inspirational enough, and the series actually gets off the
ground, then it could be "lights, camera, action" and interview
opportunity for you.

So if you're a great young Canadian (don't be shy) please
