This a straightforward word problem yet I don't know how to arrive at the answer. The question is as follows: In a college housing lottery, 1 out of 5 applicants is offered housing in college facilities. If a student is entered in the lottery 2 years in a row, what is the probability that the student is offered housing? The answer is 9/25 according to the answer sheet yet I just don't know how to get at it. Any help is greatly appreciated in advance. Chris mailto:genx@home.com
