Please, I need your help. I'm working on my Master's in physics
education. My topic is unified or integrated science curriculum
in the secondary schools. If anyone has been teaching such a
course, plans on teaching one, or is considering teaching one,
please post a message or email me. I need information on your
experiences and successes (or failures). I particularly need
details on how the course was implemented and what it's goals
are.

Thank you.

Scottish secondary schools have taught integrated science in the first
two years of secondary since the 1970's. The aim is to give pupils an
introduction to science and give some breadth to their perspective to
help them choose which discrete science to choose in S3.
The basic course comprises 15 units;-
Section 1 - Introduction to science and equipment.
        2 - Living things
        3 - Energy
        4 - Atoms and molecules
        5 - Water and solvents
        6 - Reproduction
        7 - Electricity
        8 - Gases and breathing
        9 - Heat
        10 - Acids and alkalis
        11 - The senses
12 - The earth and metals
        13 - Forces
14 - Transport systems in the body
        15 - Electromagnetism
These are described in Curriculum Paper 7 from the Scottish Office.
This is currently being superceeded by the 5 - 14 development document -
Environmental Studies.
