The Motivation Assessment Scale (MAS), by V. Mark Durand, Ph.D., and Dan
Crimmins, Ph.D., is one of the few validated functional assessment
techniques available.

As a public service to psychologists, teachers, parents and others devoted
to positive, nonaversive responses to problem behavior, Monaco & Associates
Incorporated (publishers) have made the MAS and the Motivation Assessment
Scale (MAS) Administration Guide available for free use via the web:

the MAS, and have the results automatically scored.

At http://www.monacoassociates.com/mas/mashome.html (the MAS home page),
you  may read relevant portions of the MAS  Adminstration Guide by Durand &
Crimmins.
