WELCOME TO CAN.JOBS.GOV
By: Joel Lecorre joel@synapse.net
Public Service Commission of Canada
Commission de la fonction publique du Canada

Contrary to most of the groups in the CAN hierarchy, the can.jobs.gov
forum is a moderated one, In other words, job posters that will be
found there have been previously screened by our moderator, Line
Burroughs (lburroughs@synapse.net)..

------------------
What is can.jobs.gov exactly?

The can.jobs.gov newsgroup aims at displaying currently available
opportunities in the public sector across Canada, including at the
federal, provincial, municipal and aboriginal levels.

As with any newsgroup, no money can be charged for posting an ad in
can.jobs.gov

Position posters will be deemed acceptable when it can be ascertained
that they have been issued by existing employers and are written in
English or in French (or in both languages)

------------------
Role of moderator

His/her role is not to behave as a detective; he/she will make no
attempt to determine if an opening really does exist. On the other
hand, the moderator will take into account any feedback that will be
sent to him/her regarding the availability of positions previously
displayed.

The moderator determines if an ad meets the criteria contained in the
newsgroup charter; if position belongs to public sector or para
public sector; if the poster does not contain commercial
advertisement, binary or other type of file; if the poster is written
in English or in French; if the advertised position is destined to be
occupied by a Canadian citizen/resident

------------------
Appeal Procedure

If you are not satisfied with a decision of the moderator, you may
appeal his/her ruling by writing to lburroughs@synapse.net. You must
include a copy of the poster which you would like to display and
provide the reasons why you feel it should be published. The
moderator is under no obligation to respond t your arguments, but will
usually provide an answer when time permits.
