I am proud to announce that I have been invited to speak at a National
Research Council Colloquium on my approach to software construction.
My presentation will take place:

        Wednesday October 9, 1996 at 10:30am
National Research Council (South Campus), Montreal Road
        Building M-50 Auditorium
        Ottawa

The abstract follows:

Software Construction: The Lynchpin of Quality

                         David Tilbrook
                         Oct. 9th, 1996

Although computers have automated and simplified many fields of human
endeavour, software construction itself is still relatively manual,
complex and error-prone, often leading to low-quality software
products.

This talk discusses the problem domain, reviews the state of the
practice and describes an architecture, process and tool-set for
software construction.

The architecture supports a consistent, highly-automated scalable
methodology for the construction of software products of all sizes.

Users claim this approach yields a more effective software process --
observing significant improvements in consistency, portability,
reproducibility, quality, auditing, control, and efficiency.

Their experience and project re-engineering strategies conclude the
presentation.

A Request:

I am looking for a Toronto venue in which to do a rehearsal of my
presentation sometime in the first week of Oct. If a Toronto reader
can offer the use of a small lecture theatre or conference room with
OHP and VGA projection capabilities I can offer in return an
entertaining and educating 60 minute presentation as described by the
abstract above (and you won't have to go to Ottawa).
