                      Announcement

                    Discover This Land!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - - May 20, 1996: People from all corners of the
globe have discovered the beauty, richness, traditions and diversity
of the Canadian experience. Now imagine millions more being able to
discover our land in ways never before possible.

We want you to be involved in a community project that will show the
world your own perspective of Canada. We want you to help create a
personal snapshot of Canada during the fortnight of June 2 - 15, 1996.

What is it about this land that you love and appreciate and would like
to describe to fellow Canadians and to the rest of the world? Is it the
school crossing guard you meet on your way to school? Is it the
majestic peaks and wilderness of Baffin Island? Is it the dance of the
Royal Winnipeg Ballet? Vancouver's Gastown? A Figgy Duff song? The
hustle and bustle of St. Catherines Street?

Send us your photos, your artwork, your poetry, your prose, and you
will help us create a glimpse of Canada that the world can discover and
know. Tell us what you like (or perhaps, even, what you don't like).
Your submissions will become part of a everlasting mosaic.

Your submissions will help build a permanent World Wide Web site on the
Internet that will show the world what there is to discover in and
about Canada. Your submission can be up to 500 words of text, an image
or two, and perhaps a few seconds of video or a few minutes of sound.
Or even a Web site!

Submissions will be reviewed by a a panel of prominent Canadians, and
the best and most interesting will receive special recognition on the
opening day, July 1, 1996. The "Discover This Land" Web site will be
featured at the Canada Pavilion at the Internet 1996 World Exposition.
