PostScript Downloadable Fonts

#745

I've just started downloading some PostScript fonts, and am having an
absolutely impossible time trying to make the printer understand them.
(My main intended output software is 'dvips', but I'll settle for
anything that can prove that the fonts work).

I have three different fonts from three different sources. One is
unreadable by 'vi' as it has no linebreaks (CRs *or* LFs). Another has
only CRs. Some look like PS drawing commands, other look like the
contain binary data after a few header lines.

Is someone in the local area capable of looking at my .pfb files and
telling me if they're legit? Or can someone send me a font that is known
to work under UNIX, so I can see if it's the printer? The implementation
of PostScript is actually a clone (PacificPage), but the thing says
it'll take Adobe Type 1 fonts. What do I need to watch for?

Thanks.
