Canada Succumbs to Terrorists Demands

Introduction

We Canadians cherish our freedom and our way of life. In fact, many people
around the world envy the freedoms we have so much that they come from all
over the world to live in our Country. All you have to do is look around and
see all the colours and shapes of the people that make up our diverse
nation.

However we are now living in times of Crisis, under the threat of terrorism
and war. Due to these threats and the actions of Sept. 11 our Government is
trying it's best to find ways to make us feel comfortable and safe.

However it's best is no where close to good enough. In trying to protect us
from outside threats they have created more turmoil and fear within the
minds of Canadians by threatening to take our freedom away.

New National Initiatives
Canadian officials are now developing and implementing national initiatives
that will  force us all to be subject to ID cards, face recognition, finger
printing, and video surveillance. They intend to tap into our phone
conversations and hack into our email transmissions.
Our government plans to turn Canada into a policed state by giving police
and other local, provincial and federal authorities more power to use at
their discretion. However recent history tells us that authorities already
abuse the authority they have.

I Have Nothing to Hide
I have heard many people say "I am innocent so I have nothing to hide" but
this is more than innocence speaking -its ignorance. All you have to do is
read the press releases to know that there is more at stake for those of us
who are innocent than those who are guilty of a crime.
How would you feel if someone you didn't know walked into your home and
started snooping through your things. Or if you were on the plane and the
person behind you peered over your shoulder to read what you were reading.
Or if someone followed you around town with a video camera recording
everything you did. Or if you were on the phone with your closest friend and
someone else was listening to every word you spoke. Wouldn't you feel
violated?

No matter how innocent you are, if you do nothing and let the government
arbitrarily turn Canada into a policed state you will loose your freedom.
You will be subject to random police checks. You will have to be cautious of
what you say and do, where you go and who you go with. Everything you do
will be under the scrutiny of the government.

Giving in to Terrorism
Do you really think these actions are going to protect you from terrorists?
These national initiatives do nothing to protect us from terrorist activity
because this is exactly the what the terrorists want.
Ask yourself - what is a terrorist? A terrorist is an individual who
instills terror, who uses terror as a political weapon to intimidate others
into doing his/her will.

What do today's terrorists want? They want to attack and undermine Western
society. They want to attack and remove our values and our freedoms.

Osama bin Laden predicted our current government's behaviour in one of his
televised statements, he said "freedom and human rights in America are
doomed. The U.S. government will lead American people - and the West in
general - into an unbearable hell and choking life."

Do not let our Canadian government succumb to terrorist demands and lead us
into a choking life. You must send a letters in protest of these actions and
if you have the resources you must support the cause and help us create
awareness and provide more and more Canadians with the information to make
the right decision and the tools to effectively take action.

Working together we can and will make a difference in our lives and the
future lives of our children.
