My very non-crime-aware father even put all my CDs in a box and took them home when a tradesperson was going to be in my house doing some work (when I was away). most odd. > > Get the list together and physically visit Revo CD and Cashies. It can work. years ago our ski lodge was broken into, fax etc and a lot of valuable racing skis went. some detective work by the people who owned the skis, a certain cashies was watched carefully (near the school who was staying up in Guthega the week of the break in!) and they turned up, the people saw them, called cops and they were able to trace back to the thiefs. because of work done by the people who owned the skis. > Give the list to the Police, be nice, and ask them to look through > Property sections lists. Chances are without a suspect, they aren't > going to do much. even with a suspect, don't hold your breath. My wallet and keys were taken from my car in my parents' car shed out the back of our house in Pialligo a month back. As we looked around the farm, hoping they'd taken teh money and tossed the wallet, we found 2 guys walking into the place. Brother escorted them to far gate, then got phone and sprinted around to back gate, where 2 cars were parked in the trees. Began taking down the rego numbers, and kid in one of the cars began yelling for his dad! Obviously the lookout. Cops said it was still circumstantial evidence and nothing more was heard from them. If anyone knows how I can get a rego lookup done on those regos, I'd sure be grateful. > Ask neighbours if they saw anyone in the street. Toting a backpack > probably. ha. good start but you'll need a hell of a lot more than that! The reason, I think, that so much of this kind of theft goes on is that the thieves have a good chance of getting away with it. Why were the guys back? Our guess is that one came in (it was dusk, btw) and took the wallet and keys, then called his mate or went and got him, and came back to either steal my car, or try the keys on the various locked sheds or even house. ant
