As part of the Government's policy of promoting industry activity in exports, 
the Department of Defence will be undertaking seminars in major capital 
cities during March and April, designed to educate Australian industry and 
Government agencies on the "Wassenaar Arrangement on Export Controls for 
Conventional Arms and Dual-Use Goods and Technologies" and the "Weapons of 
Mass Destruction (Prevention of Proliferation) Act".

The seminars will give participants an opportunity to discuss controls and 
broader Government policy that directly affect them and to suggest where 
changes could be considered to further streamline the export control 
processes. Seminars will also be held in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and 
Darwin some time in April / May 1996 - dates to be advised.
