A Place for Jazz is a non-profit organization to promote jazz in
the capital district. They present concerts, jazz clinics and
workshops for elementary, secondary, and college students and
Master Clinics for professional musicians in the area.

Every fall A Place for Jazz sponsors a series of Jazz concerts in the
"whisperdome" of the First Unitarian Society, 1221 Wendell Ave,
Schenectady. This is a wonderful room for hearing jazz: great
acoustics and visibility.

This Friday, 9 October, A Place for Jazz presents a concert by
the Claudio Roditi Sextet at the Unitarian Society. Tickets are
$13.50. For information call (518) 374-6912. Tickets are sold
at the door, unless they run out (Roditi's concert here two years
ago did sell out).

Quoting from the APFJ newsletter:

"Mr. Roditi, born in Brazil, is one of those rare Jazz birds who
has managed to transport himself from one culture to another without
leaving anything behind. His wonderful fusion of Bebop and the Samba
has made him an integral force in the music of Dizzy Gillespie's
UN Orchestra and Paquita D'Rivera's small groups."
