ABSTRACT
Association rule mining is one of the well studied and
popular field in Data Mining. Conventional rule mining algo-
rithms compute rules in two steps. The first step is to com-
pute all the frequent itemsets and the second step is to
generate the rules. All algorithms concentrate on computing
frequent itemsets as it poses a computational challenge.
This is a talk in two parts on the rule mining algo-
rithms I have studied so far. The first part of the talk
will introduce the terminology and the early algorithms that
were developed for computing frequent itemsets. In the
second part I will discuss more advanced algorithms that
have been developed for this problem.
