It seems there is a lot of misunderstanding about the concept of domain name registration. Even the top registrar, Networksolutions has become a broker: http://www.networksolutions.com/catalog/insearchof/ It is not against the law to register domain names as long as they do not infringe upon an existing trademark. I registered the names I own because they were available. It is like a land grab on the Internet at the moment and any business that fails to recognize that would not survive. If I did not register these names some one else would. In fact I have received some pretty good offers from a man in Germany who wants to purchase two of my Swiss related names to use for adult sites. I declined the offer because I am more interested in those who want to use the names for ecommerce portals. I am very interested in the globalisation of marketplaces and I think people really need to understand the potential of a global economy in order to comprehend the idea behind what I am doing. There are websites that broker domain names in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, http://www.GreatDomains.com. I would be the first to admit that the domain name market is crazy - however it is no better or worse than "owning" an acre of land. Instead of getting upset from a lack of understanding, it is better to study this phenomenon and try to understand it as best as you can. It is here to stay. I would be willing to consult (for free!) with anyone who needs help registering an international name or simply with understanding where the global economy is headed. I also understand the anger and resentment but it is not a situation that is controlable. I look forward to a continuing discourse.
