Project:

Description: IRP is the derivatives trading system for a financial institution. The system is written in Obj C and C++ and runs on the NeXTStep operating system.  It uses a Sybase relational database with replication.  Databases reside on HP servers running HP-UX.  The business is complex and global with hundreds of users in a dozen or more sites around the world.  The system has both complex on-line functions and a significant number of overnight processes. This financial istitution is currently in the process of migrating towards a new trading system labeled Advantage.  This system has an n-tier distributed component architecture running on Solaris servers with NT clients.  The Advantage application is being developed in Java and C++ and will utilize both Corba and Enterprise Java Beans.

Job Description:

Good communication skills/sense of urgency in responding to user needs, Good working knowledge of interest rate derivative products, Ideally, some programming exp in derivative trading apps, NeXTStep/Open Step operating system experience (desirable but not mandatory).  Plus ability to problem solve, Work under pressure, Focus on delivery of solutions, Comfort with end users, Knowledge of Asian cultures. We are looking for a Derivatives Application Support person to join our team. The team is based in Chicago and is responsible for the following:  day to day support of traders, marketers, and mid-office users of the IRP systems globally, working closely with appl support staff in local sites and appl developers in Chicago to resolve application problems, managing short-term application
implementation projects, keeping users up to date with new developments of the IRP systems, support for new application releases.

Start Date:  Immediately
Length of Contract:  3 - 6 months
Shift/Hours:  Flexible
Definite Contract to Hire
Contractor will not have to work overtime, travel, provide on-call support or wear a pager.
