There are undoubtably messages which take 5 days from the states to us,
but on the other hand there are messages that arrive here in minutes
or hours. USENET News neither guarentees delays nor sequence of the
articles. 

I actually have the suspicion that your specific problem might be with
a corrupted .overview file, if you could submit the actual groups you
read to our technical staff, somebody will have a look at the problem.
