The contents of the well known SWITCHinfo FTP Archive, one of the
biggest anonymous FTP servers in Switzerland, has moved to the
new Swiss SunSITE FTP server

	ftp://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/

Swiss SunSITE is a joint project of
   Sun Microsystems (Schweiz) AG http://www.sun.ch/
cnlab-ITR (Rapperswil School of Engineering) http://www.itr.ch/cnlab/
SWITCH (Swiss Academic & Research Network) http://www.switch.ch/

The SunSITE machine is a dual CPU Sun UltraEnterprise 3000 server with
256 MByte RAM, 86 GByte raw harddisk space and 64 GByte available to the
system (RAID-1, RAID-5 and hot spare).

A 100 Mbit/s FDDI ring connects Swiss SunSITE to the SWITCHlan backbone.
Users directly connected to SWITCHlan will therefore profit from a very
fast connectivity to Swiss SunSITE. All the other users share a 2 Mbit/s
link to Swiss SunSITE.

 - The FTP Archive is the first service on the new machine.
 - The SWITCH Archie service will move later in December 1996,
it will retain the name archie.switch.ch.
 - The WWW service follows soon after, in the beginning of January 1997,
together with the official inauguration of Swiss SunSITE.

All the mirrored archives from ftp.switch.ch will move on December 1st
to Swiss SunSITE. The other information on ftp.switch.ch will be gradually
moved to Swiss SunSITE unless it is SWITCH specific and therefore stays on
ftp.switch.ch.

A draft version of a WWW interface will allow you to find files in the new
archive:
        http://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/search/ftp/

See you soon on Swiss SunSITE!
