 SUJET:  A Neural Network Architectural Model of
         Visual Cortical Cells for Texture Segregation

 RESUME: The seminar will discuss a three layer hierarchical neural
         network architecture that models the Visual Cortex for
         preattentive vision tasks.  The network is based on a model of
         different types of cortical cells and on different connection
         schemes present in the visual cortex.  By taking into account
         linear properties of simple cells and non-linear properties of
         intracortical processing, the structure and the functionality
         of simple, complex and hypercomplex cells will be defined.
         Some possible applications of the network will be discussed and
         examples of the system performance will be shown.
