Chicago AI Group?

I'm glad to finally see some traffic in this group (even if it is
somewhat trivial).

Myself and Ramesh Ravula (of Andersen Consulting) have been considering
forming an AI interest group in Chicago. The primary goals of such a
group are to share experiences and to have a focal point for speakers
and AI resources. As far as I know there are no such AI groups in
Chicago.

We are investigating starting a local of AAAI, IAKE, INNS, or SIGART. If
anyone has any opinions or further ideas, we would like to hear them.
We would like the parent organization to give us some minimal funding
and support to get us going. If none of these are appropriate, then we
could try starting an independent organization.

Is anyone else out there interested in such an organization? To the
extent of paying dues and joining?
