In general I have a don't fix what ain't broke policy when it comes to 
upgrade.  I was running 3.6.24 on my Fedora Core 14 box and things were 
starting to break on sites.  At first it was interesting and then it 
became enough of a PITA where upgrading was less of a PITA.

There wasn't any simple upgrade button probably due to age of version so 
I had to download from the site.  The site gave only gave me 17.01 and 
that didn't work without upgrading other shit which was a no go.  I 
finally found where the old versions are stored, downloaded 12 (which is 
the stepping stone I'm at on my Windows box), ran it and it worked like 
a charm and all the sites I frequent now work too.  Hooray.  I should be 
good for at least a year or more.

Today, the MFer browser automatically updated to a version 18 beta and 
started asking me all these questions like this is somehow for my 
benefit.  I don't know how they got 18 beta to work when 17 wouldn't 
install for me.  I reinstalled 12 again and made sure to disable the 
auto update.  The chutzpah of these people is astonishing.
