When the DH implemented their paywall, I heard from an insider that they 
were now making more money on subscriptions than ads, and ad revenue is 
continuing to drop. Maybe they should just drop the ads and fire the entire 
sales staff, and save themselves the overhead.

Newspaper management is stupid, but having journalists around to keep the 
gov't at least a little bit honest is nice. Too bad only about 0.0001% of 
journos actually fall into that boat, as opposed to writing food columns or 
glorified cat blogs. Have you read the "Neighbor" section of any newspaper 
recently?
