Aren't I always?

Gosh. You sure told me.
Pfft.
Anyways..
#1: its not a hacker "club". its free meetings in which people can sit down
with us and talk about technical issues, social issues on the net and how they
affect us, and generally allow us to bullshit around as most of us don't meet
up with one another in person that often.
#2: As for what i wanted, was perhaps a little research into the issue. This
isn't exactly a subject that can be covered in a few hours. What he did was
take a cross section of our culture for a few hours without researching who we
were. I walked away from that interveiw with a bad taste in my mouth, and from
what I hear, the article was somewhat less than spectacular, nor was it very
well researched.
So before you begin pointing and shaking your finger, perhaps YOU should do
some research into what the fuck your talking about before you go spewing
accusations. I went to that meeting to talk to freinds, and because someone at
the meeting was a media whore and told him to come to the meeting, i did an
interveiw with him with the hope that he actually knew what the hell he was
writing about. I was wrong, and I won't be making the same mistake twice.
Robert Blake (a psudeonym) did a thesis on us, which was accurate, well
thought out and RESEARCHED. He spent more than a few hours with us (actually,
a couple days) and learned what we were about. We don't want people to worship
us as that would imply we have some sort of ideals of responsibility, which we
don't, nor have we said we did. We do what we do because it's challenging,
fun, a great way to learn about technology that we normally wouldn't have
access to and it opens alot of oppourtunitys skills-wise. Not because some
dork at a halfrate 'zine wants a hot scoop and we want our pictures in the
papers.
Nuff said.
