we're in business.

I got another call from the install techm this time he said he needed to
get into the basement. I sugged it probably wasn't needed as I already
have DSL and no voice service, so just change whatever at the pole or vrad
or wherever.

The guy sounded irritated, but said he'd try it.

I got home and my current DSL modem was flashing red, so I swapped it out
for the russian komputer modem, which took a while to sync up, but it did
come up. I had to create a new stupid AT&T email address as I don't know
the old one or password, but I made up some shit and got past the
registration intercept all traffic page.

I measured a legit 11.5Mb down, 1.5Mb up.

Other than neededing a new modem that's not all pounded in like the sides
of some ghettomobile things look ok so far.
