Preamble
--------

    The Clout Project of /usr/group/chicago provides email services to
    the Chicago computer community. It is currently a two node system.
    One (nclout aka clout.chi.il.us) resides at the University of Chicago,
    Department of Computer Science. The other (homebru) is in the home of
    Dave Ihnat. Eventually we hope to have a clout node as a nearby phone
    call for everybody in the Chicago area.

    The Clout System Administrators' Committee is responsible for
    maintaining and upgrading the Clout distributed computer system.
    The Committee meets on the first Monday of every month, at a
    variety of locations. Meetings are open to all interested parties,
    but we do request that you notify the host if you plan to attend.

    If you have any questions or problems related to the Clout Project,
    send email to postmaster@clout.chi.il.us. If it is not possible
    to send email, or if there is a matter of urgency, you may contact
    the Sysadmin of the Month.

Minutes of the Clout Project System Administrators meeting of February

Agenda items
------------

* NIS Discussion
    Shannon will get Clout to run without NIS.

* Guest Accounts
    Shannon will get guest accounts on Balr for Clout software development.

* Reduction in User Accounts
    Due to a request from the U of C, the amount of accounts on clout
    is to be reduced. People who serve no current purpose on the
    machine are to be deleted immediately. More discussion on this at
    the March meeting. In addition, the root password is to be changed,
    and will only be passed on to those who actually need it.

* File Backups
    The following files will be added to the clout weekly backups:
    /etc/named.boot, /usr/local/lib/domain, kernel config files,
    /usr/local/lib/smail and dkinfo.

* Smail Routing Code
    Greg will install smail routing code to route a machine's mail to
    an account in case that is ever needed again.

* Memory Leaks
    Greg and Mike will continue to investigate the Smail memory leaks.

* UUCP Domain
    La Monte will work on a system to make the .UUCP domain obsolete
    by informing users of that domain how to get themselves registered
    in a fully qualified domain. (Yes, from Tasmania.)

* Postmaster of the Month
    Mike Beirne

* March Meeting
    Next meeting will be March 2nd at the home of Doug Blair at 7:30pm.
