You're welcome, Dave. | >Email through the Internet to 73720.1570@compuserve.com will be ignored. | | Hmmm..this seems kinda counter-intuitive. "I have and pay for an Email | service, but because it would cost me money to read items that possibly are | posted to just cost me money across the Internet gateway, I'll post my | Compuserve account number and then deny myself the service offered." Huh? It's easily enough explained. I didn't edit my CIS UID out of my .signature for that article because I wanted to indicate that I have a CIS account and checked the info myself rather than posting rumors far from their sources. On the other hand, you had suggested that one could do a CIS customer dirt by loading his or her mailbox with email from or across the Internet, and I wanted to say, "Don't waste your time trying to trick me with it." | "I have and pay for an Email service, ... " I have and pay for a CompuServe account. Email connectivity with other systems is not the only thing CIS has and does not rank among my reasons for having the account. I do read email there from other CompuServe mailboxes. It would be the same to me as burning currency to have a CompuServe account just for email with other systems. Frankly, if I didn't have a few CIS-using friends who are scared witless at the site of ">INTERNET:user@site.domain" (which they don't even have to type; they need only /REPly to mail that I send first) I would receive almost no mail there at all and would use CIS solely for things other than mail. | " ... and then deny myself the service offered." I'm denying myself nothing. Anyone reading the netnews article in chi.mail and wishing to send me email is capable of sending it to my mailboxes on ddsw1, gagme, Holonet, MCI Mail, Cleveland Free-Net, or Heartland Free-net. The only reason to choose my CIS mailbox instead would be to prove what a jerk the sender is. Well, I might read a letter sent to CIS if it's short; after all, I'm on the old (now called "alternative") billing plan, and letter sizes are displayed when you scan your incoming mail. David W.
