No gateways to ANY outside services. Just another reason to not like Prodigy... Anyway, now that it's been mentioned, I just thought I'd throw out how to get into/out of Compuserve from the internet. (In this case, 'internet' is any Internet site, or UUCP site that groks Internet-style @ addresses.) TO COMPUSERVE FROM THE INTERNET: -------------------------------- You must know the recipient's Compuserve ID; for the purpose of demonstration, let's pick a funny number such as 72359,1234. Send your mail to: 72359.1234@compuserve.com Note that the comma is replaced with a period. The message and all associated headers will arrive in the recipient's mailbox. FROM COMPUSERVE TO THE INTERNET: -------------------------------- You must know the recipient's internet-style address; for the purpose of demonstration, let's pick a funny recipient such as drutin@zork.com. Send your mail to: >INTERNET:drutin@zork.com Note that the key here is the ">INTERNET:" construct. If you find out what the gateway internet machine to Compuserve is called--easy enough to do, just send yourself a message and look at the headers, but I don't feel like carrying out the exercise--you could substitute a 'bang' path, I suspect. Now the bad news: Whoever is the Compuserve sender OR receiver is billed for the mail on a per-message basis. Yes, if I send you mail, *your* Compuserve account is billed for it. If you send me mail from Compuserve, your account is billed for it. (Now you know why I didn't use *my* Compuserve account ID as the example...know anyone's account that you really hate?...) Have fun...
