I was wondering if anyone knows about archive services or if this is even
possible but is there any way (either online or in person somewhere) to get
like the movie section, all the ads/listings/showtimes, more like a
microfilm of the newspaper section (gif or whatever) rather than OCR?

There is a really lame story behind this and off hand it's not worth a ton
of effort but after using der google finger and going through dozens of
sites, I don't see an authorative online way of getting the info.

Most of the archive services seem to be towards news stories, I need like
the movie/entertainment section, with the actual movie listings. This would
be like 1978/1979 in era.

On tv they always show the law enforcement going to some dusty basement
looking through microfiche, but is there such a thing available for the
general public at like the Tribune or Sun Times?

Chicago Public Library, 400 S. State St., Fl. 3, Newspaper reference
has microfilm of the entire run of the Chicago Sun-Times and Trib. They
are still producing microfilm.

You'll be able to make printouts of movie display ads or listings for the
period you want.

312 747-4369, but the clerk at the desk when I called wasn't familiar
with their holdings.

Yeah, thanks for the info, sort of figured they would do still do that
somewhere, just have to figure out an afternoon to go poke around.

A suburban library will have microfilm too, depending on where you are.
