Really?

Has the talent pool in print media become so depleted that someone like
Schmich and her usual banal tripe can win one or have they expanded the
categories of Pulitzer prizes that they practically give them out like
candy nowadays?

This is a stain upon the reputation of a Pulitzer Prize.

No offense to Mary Schmich however. Whatever floats your boat and after
sometimes reading newspaper comment sections it becomes apparent that
quite a few dingbats read this newspaper and Mary certainly caters to
that crowd.

But a Pulitzer Prize? Really?

If you look up who Pulitzer was, you might untwist your panties a bit.

And Hilkevitch was snubbed for this gem:
"Getting Around's hunch is that IDOT and CDOT officials are still seriously underestimating the anger among hordes of drivers who accurately predicted the mess that would result from conducting three major road projects simultaneously in such a concentrated and congested area of the downtown.

If these sage transportation officials continue to doubt public opinion, one humble suggestion is that they check the comments section accompanying the online version of this column. The responses will likely melt their pocket protectors"

Well I think a couple years is fine for construction and the whiners should stfu and ride transit instead.

No, just pointing out that the guy had a cool name so that's why the
prize sounds presitigious, but as a newspaper publisher, he wasn't
really the best human being.
