Libertarian Party Convention will be broadcast
over Internet, by C-SPAN, and on LP web page

WASHINGTON, DC -- Even if you can't attend the Libertarian
Party's national convention in Washington, DC, over the July Fourth
weekend, you can see or hear every minute of the proceedings, National
Director Ron Crickenberger announced today.

"For the first time in our history, we will have a live,
gavel-to-gavel audio broadcast of the convention over the Internet,"
Crickenberger said. "In addition, we expect extensive C-SPAN coverage,
and we'll also be updating the party's web site regularly throughout
the convention. That means you won't have to be inside the convention
hall to be inside the loop."

The convention will be held from Thursday, July 2, to Sunday,
July 5, at the Washington DC Convention Center. Delegates from all 50
states will gather to elect a new national chair, debate Platform
changes, participate in seminars, and hear a fascinating line-up of
speakers, Crickenberger said.

Americans will have three ways to follow the action:

        * Listen over the Internet via live audio. "The American
Entertainment Network, which carries the enormously popular libertarian
host Lowell Ponte, has agreed to provide gavel-to-gavel coverage of the
convention," Crickenberger said. "Simply call up the website
AENNET.COM, and you'll be able to listen with either a Net Show or
Microsoft media player, both of which can be downloaded from the site."

        * C-SPAN coverage. C-SPAN says it will broadcast parts of the
convention live and will tape other segments for later broadcast.
Viewers can call the network's programming hotline at (202) 628-2205
and a recorded message will list programming for that day, and
sometimes for the following day.

        * The Libertarian Party's web page: www.lp.org. "We will be
updating our web page periodically from the floor of the convention,"
Crickenberger said. "We will be keeping you updated on floor votes,
relaying important information, and even accepting new memberships over
the web."

The convention will be the party's single best
membership-building event of the year, Crickenberger said.

"Over 16,000 calls flooded the party's 800# during and
immediately after our 1996 convention, resulting in an explosion of
membership growth. This year we have a new 800# -- 1-800-ELECT-US --
and we're hoping to replicate the success we had in 1996," he said.
