I have an opportunity to view a musical performance at the Chicago =
Theater and my choice of seat locations are Orch. Pit, 1st row or 3rd =
row.

1) How is the sound quality in the orchestra pit and will I have a sore =
neck at the end of the night from looking up at the performer?

2) Are the sightlines in the first row obscured by the seats in the =
pit?

3) The box office said you can get more of a perspective of the stage =
in row 3 than row 1. True?

Any suggestions/comments are welcome.

If you're goig to see the orchestra, they'll prolly be on stage, not in
the pit. You'll be fine.

Take row 3. And your neck won't hurt .that/ much.

Yes.

The CT also releases ticket day-of-show. I picked up the Chicago
Tribune box (loge on the center-aisle) calling Tickemaster one time.
