It's supposed to be the group to announce events and for nightlife, which no one could possibly figure out from the name. If you like this group, you'll really love chi.news.stats, where the scripts have been borked for 15 years.

Ha. I thought it was supposed to be for apartments or places/areas in the city to live in and discuss. > If you like this group, you'll really love chi.news.stats, where the scripts > have been borked for 15 years. At least I remember posts in chi.news.stats, although I think all of them were from WWA (gagme). I never saw anything in chi.mail though. When I was cleaning out Clybourn I found a box of old backup tapes, not even sure what they are, 4mm DAT maybe, whatever was SOTA in 1993/94. Wonder if any of the old /var/spool/news directories are on them. I know back then you could fit a whole week of usenet, including the binaries, on a single 600mb cdrom. I think the tapes were 250mb, compressed. Wonder if I ever wasted the time to back up the news spool back then. -bruce bje@ripco.com

I just came across my IBM DAT drive, so assuming I have gnutar on my rs/6000, and it can still boot off its micropolis hard disks, I might be able to see what's on a backup I made in the late 1990s of who knows what.
