According to Jawad Ali <jawad@ecst.csuchico.edu>: :I would like to learn about password protecting my web page. :They tell me to make a .htaccess file and then run htpasswd :like so: htpasswd -c <filename> <username> : :They dont mention anything about salt. htpasswd gives me the :error: "Usage: htpasswd [salt]" The local htpasswd command is not the one that they are referring to. Theirs does significantly more than the simple perl script that I wrote. The local one merely encrypts an asked-for password using the standard Unix crypt. A random salt is chosen unless you enter one on the command line. -- Py -- 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105... Pythagoras Watson -- "Live long and may all your kernels pop."
