Programación Pda, VB2005 Soquilio!!!!

Holas a to2.
Por favor quien pueda ayudarme....
Tengo un prog. hecho en VB2005 para WinMobile. Este usa un lector de 
c�digos de barra Bluetooth conectado a un puerto serial virtual de la Pda.

Funca OK....pero cuando alejo mucho el lector se desconecta de la Pda, sin 
embargo el puerto serial queda abierto no indicando que se desconect� el 
dispositivo y la aplicaci�n watea.

Para la lectura uso un invoke:

Como puedo determinar si tengo o no en detrminado momento conectado algo 
al puerto serial???
