Exchange Server 5.5 Upgrade problem (Need to read old PRIV.EDB)

When I upgraded our Exchange Server 5 to version 5.5 the install program
gave an error when it was converting PRIV.EDB, the private info store.

I took a copy of the file and, after installation, everyone's messages had
disappeared. Setup has created a new PRIV.EDB but if I copy the old one
back, Exchange won't start because the file is from version 5. I've tried
using some of the utilities (EDBUTIL amongst others) but I can't upgrade the
file.

I am now considering putting Exchange 5.0 on another of our NT servers so I
can read the file and move the messages across to the other server. Is this
possible?

If anyone knows anything about reading or upgrading the ver 5 EDB file or if
you know if it's possible to open and move the messages from another server,
it would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Brett Graham

surprised how many people don't.
