dual op system changes

Can anyone help please.

I am using Win98, but decided to try WinNT - I had both as OEM versions.
Until after I had installed NT (I should have read the instructions!) it did
not migrate the Win98 setup, but installed as a second operating system.
Now, when I boot up, I get the choice of NT (default) or 98.

Can anyone advise if there is an easy way to migrate the setup info from 98
to NT. Alternatively, how can I uninstall NT and get back to my original
setup?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Pete

Hi! Pete

I'm not very sure if understand well what you want? If you just wanted
to have WinNT on your machine then you should have formatted your HD when
your were prompt by NT installation!!
IF you want to go back to your old Win98 as it was before it is very
simple you just delete all folders belonging to Winnt then at the Dos prompt
you type sys c: this will remove the option you have at the begining
for WinNT or Win98 and will restart as usual.

                           Martin Good luck!

Martin,

I think Pete wanted windows NT to upgrade his Windows 98 to Windows NT. This
can not be done.
Only Windows 2000 Professional can do this, and this works about 60% of the
time at best.
If you install Windows NT on a Windows 98 system and install NT in the
Windows Directory it will read the system.ini and win.ini and any other ini
files, but it will not read the Windows 98 registery and upgrade it to
Windows NT. You will have a Dual boot - Windows and Windows 98 option.
To change back to Windows 98 - Boot to Windows 98 and format a floppy with
the /s option and copy the sys.com up to the floppy - boot with the floppy
and type SYS C: from the A: prompt - Remove floppy and reboot computer. From
Explorer remove the WINNT folder.
