In a previous article, bww@po.CWRU.Edu (Brian W. Wolf) says:

>Does anyone know what's going on at Revco? word has it they are being
>bought out by someone, or they are buying out someone, someone must
>know....

Rite Aid, Inc. has "bought out" (they call it a merger) Revco, Inc.
and is killing off the Twinsburg, OH. HQ. By March it will be a large
complex and several warehouses about the area that sit in silence.

1,100 + Job will be lost in the move, though RA states it has built
in "severance provisions" into the merger contracts. RA states that it
will take 12 months to complete the merger agreement and complete the
required tasks to convert Revco stores and then shut-down those locations
it feels are no longer needed.

Kicker? Well Beachwood (i.e.) has a Revco and RA directly across
the street from each other. The Revco has just undergone total re-work,
and it's believed Revco owns that property which has several other tenants.
The R.A. store hasn't been updated in a short while, and is in a strip
plaza that it pays rent to the landlord. It is believed that in this
consoldiation, the R.A. will close, all products will be moved across the
street, and the Revco will be renamed due to advantages in that location.
What about those employees? Is is believed the R.A. employees will be
moved into the former Revco store, and only those Revco employees that
fill positions not already covered by present R.A. employees will be
offered new positions. The rest? Hasta lavista, baby.

This is a policy from R.A. that is believed to be the plans for
all Revco stores. If you live near or know someone who works for one,
and a R.A. is nearby, the best facility for the best reasons wins, and
the R.A. employees stay in the jobs. It's just R.A.'s way of ensuring
"job safety" while screwing 1,100+ Revco employees out of work. Revco
held a 23% Market Share to R.A.'s approx 25% in Ohio, North of Columbus
territories, thus this should result in R.A. having an ending share of
about 40% or better.

	So, what's the word?
