Hello to those curious about 216-518. The 518 exchange does indeed cover Maple Hts. and bits of surrounding communities. New exchanges are occasionally added to take care of increased demand for ph. numbers -- such as cellular, radio paging and the increased popularity of fax machines. This demand for phone numbers is growing quickly. So quickly, that Ameritech will soon run out of numbers to issue. As a result, Ameritech will soon "split" the 216 areacode into two divsions: 216 and 330. This is scheduled to begin on March 9, 1996 and become mandatory in June of 96. 216-518 is used for "general purpose" and ISDN. See what you can learn on the net... :) Rich -- bt630@po.cwru.edu
