That's right, cops are crooked.  So is every other proession in the book.  You
get the good and the bad anywhere you go.  Before you start bitching about the
Cleveland cops though think about what else they do.  I have listened in on
their radio at times and everytime I do I hear of calls for help from abused
spouses, quarreling neighbors, people calling in drug deals in their
neighborhood, robbery, shootings.....a lot more than just tickets.  I watched a
cop through one shift once, in the middle of the night he had to stand outside
in the freezing rain.  Trying to stop traffic from running into a downed power
line.  People came by, saw the roadblock and flipped him off, yelled
obscenitites or even tried to go through.  One guy tried running him over and
almost rammed the cruiser.  People told him that as long as they didn't hit the
line they would be ok.  He had plenty of chances to give out tickets that night
to the people who tried going through, but only wrote one to a very persistant
jerk.
So think of that next time you try getting more time you want to bitch about
the cops.  BTW - downtown is busier than Lakewood, they obviously want to get
people in and out faster.  You want to park for more than hour there are
parking lots scattered throguhout the city.  Or come back before your meter
expires.
