my apologies if this was posted twice.. bccm@NOSPAMicon-stl.net wrote: > If you have had a bad experience with Ameritech, please tell me about > it! > > Check out: > > http://geocities.yahoo.com/MadisonAvenue/Suite/1431/page1.html > > The more information that gets shared will make us all better > consumers! > Remove NOSPAM from email address to respond - Thanks! bwahaha.. gotta LOVE the ever growing ameritech.net fan club.. in my opinion tech support was absolutely clueless... <start ameritech.net tech support impression> did you try rebooting your computer? </end ameritech.net tech support impression> it seemed there was a lack of communication within the network and a lack of technical knowledge.. another example would be that ameritech.net JUST RECENTLY (a few months ago) disabled mutiple logins from the same account (or its slave accounts). (one could make slave accounts for others so they could use the internet for free)ameritech.net also JUST RECENTLY (im not sure exactly when) made one unable to use a recently discarded username. (there is a good chance that if someone users a recently discarded username, they could 'intercept' the orignal users email) it is my opinion that ameritech.net didnt give a hoot about their customers since they often used the clause in the TOS (terms of service) about accepting the service AS IS as an EXCUSE while throwing up their arms rather than just using it to cover their asses in CASE something went wrong.. i also believe this because when i went to them regarding an ameritech.net user who I PROVED had broken many of the rules in the ameritech.net TOS (terms of service) (including spamming, which was their 'cause of the month' since ameritech.net, at the time, was labeled a 'spam haus'), they did nothing. *6* months later they notify me that they cancelled the account (even though I believe the user HIMSELF cancelled the account). it is my opinion that ameritech.net news servers are completely unreliable because a fraction of the posts show up (ameritech.net users can see for themselves by going to deja (http://www.deja.com)) and the newservers were constanly up and down. in fact, as best as i can recollect, in sept 1998, the news servers spent more time down than up.. it is my opinion that mail servers were just as (un)reliable because friends would tell me that when they mailed me, the email would bounce quite often with a 'user not found' message from the mail daemon.. it is my opinion that ameritech.net did not compensate resources or equipment for its increase in clientel over time (i dont remember exactly how much time) because, there were an increase in instances you could not connect, if you COULD connect, the connection was slow, there were and increase in dropped carriers (disconnects), and because the wait time for tech support increased dramatically (from 10 min to 45 min). on the bright side, it couldnt possibly get any worse unless they add pop-up ads.. feel free to use my post/mail on your site if you want, Jennifer Martino the web page you have reached http://www.cotse.com/ over 200 telephone sounds and recordings in wav and real audio format church of the swimming elephant http://www.cotse.com/ computer geeks haven
