The Internet's original theme song would probably have been Aaron
Copland's "Fanfare For The Common Man" or "Appalachian Spring". Now it's more
like Pink Floyd's "Money" or Madonna's "Material Girl"
Hopefully this mass posting effort will change the song to "Ally McBeal's"
"Searching My Soul Tonight".
Similar to Tiffany's song. E-Mail could have been so beautiful. Could
have been so right. Instead a group called Anti-Spammers have turned e-mail
into a Tiffanyistic: long and lonely night.
Below are 3 free lance articles which were emailed to most every daily
newspaper and many weeklies. The publishing payments ("proceeds") pledged to
end Homelessness in San Francisco et al. And establishing a Randy Shilts AIDS
Test Day on February 17th.
I am INDIRECTLY soliciting donations from Internetizens. Non Tax
Deductable, No EIN with up to $2,000 going towards living expenses while in San
Francisco crusading. You can make checks or cash payable to me at the above
address.
HOWEVER.......
I am hoping internetizens extend the practice of consumerism to your
local newspaper. Please copy below the *********. Then paste on to an email
form to your local newspaper(s). Along with notation of being a local reader.
If your newspaper(s) (a business) recieves enough emails from its readers
(consumers) demanding for these articles( products) to be published (carried).
They will respond to their consumers (pubish the articles) and send me the
payments (donations).
Despite the egocentricity of you netizens. Your local newspaper(s) are
read more than any possible collective posting by a ratio of at least 8 to 1.
Without sending me money, or your email address. Or even standing up. You
can help The Homeless (albeit in SF), likely reduce AIDS transmission by
milions and improve the Internet.
I do intend to post this extensively enough to reach as many netizens as
possible. Suggestions on reaching the most people with the least burden to
newsgroup postmasters and my own time and cost are more than welcome.
A sincere effort is to be made to avoid "multiple readership postings".
Remember I am accepting donations. But I would much rather be a pioneer
in this "Cagney And Lacey" like effort.

AND THE HOPE PLAYS ON
(for publication before February 17)
> For a few weeks around February 1994:
> The Dallas Cowboys added another Super Bowl. Michael Jordan added
another sport. Stefi Graf and Pete Sampras added more titles to their eras.
> The Oscars and Globe's chose "Schlinder's List" and Tom Hanks. The Emmys
had chosen "Picket Fences". One judge by a tenth of a point chose Oksana Baiul,
disagreeing with 126.6 million American viewers who chose Nancy Kerrigan.
1993's Miss America Leanza Cornett was in trouble choosing to talk of safe sex.
Not just safe make up tips.
> The top songs were Celine Dion's "The Power of Love" and Mariah Carey"s
"Hero." Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For A Hero" would be the top song choice
for AIDS White Knight.
> Ronald Reagan celebrated #83 then pleaded for his Alzheimer's. As did
the 20,849 dead or dying from AIDS in 1987- his first public speaking of the
word AIDS.
> Nine years after Rock Hudson and 219,000 deaths later. On February
17,1994 Randy Martin Shilts started his quest to inclusion on PROJECT NAMES-The
AIDS Quilt.
> Shilts was the first and only mainstream AIDS reporter in 1981. First
with THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE. Then with a multiple awarded book and Aaron
Spelling's Emmy Winning docudrama AND THE BAND PLAYED ON.
> February 17 should be more than a vigil/march like day. I propose that
it be a National AIDS Test Day. The most important report on AIDS is each
person's status: Positive or Negative.
> Shilts reported AIDS to sometimes violence before it was called AIDS.
Before it was too late. Before any non-San Franciscan knew or cared about a
then called Kaposi's Sarcoma. GRID or worse GBS.
> Five years before Elizabeth Taylor's efforts. There was THE CITY's KS
Poster Boy Bobbi Campbell. A decade before Ryan White's death there was SF's
George Ken Horne. A decade before Magic Johnson's announcement. There was a 71
year old San Mateo Grandmother Frances Borchelt. Before THE AIDS Quilts. There
was Selma Dritz's blackboard.
> Before approaching a 2,000,000th known American AIDS case was Gaetan
Dugas. "Patient Zero." Before a hailed Miss America Kate Shindle was Leanza
Cornett.
> Now, Mainstream editors/ news directors turn into pornography to sell
papers/increase ratings regarding Lewinsky and Clinton.
> Even in The Bay Area, let alone anywhere else in THE KS/GBS/GRID
days. Graphically reporting on sexual activities was censored. Except for
Shilts, who's only desire was to save lives and a materialized tragedy.
> Shilts first articles of death wrote graphically. Obituaries in other
newspapers wouldn't even mention People With AIDS (PWA's) even being Gay. Let
alone a cause of death and it's transmission method.
> Even today AIDS reporter universally ask for different beats after only
a few months. Due to the death and verbal abuse from AIDS groups of even slight
lack of pc.
Shilts reported on deaths of still relatively unknown San Francicans.
He recieved not just verbal but physical abuse throughout his decade.
> The 1998 Pacific Bell Yellow Pages list 76 SF AIDS organizations-not
including clinics. The 1982 SF Yellow Pages lists 32 Bathouses all closed by
1984. Reported and editorialized by just about only Randy Shilts.
> Many AIDS containing book store owners agreed with a dozen Castro
district residents' discussions. Shilt's coverage was terminal to bath's
business. One bath averaged 800 customers a night.
> Flyers warning of lethal sub-human "sexual" baths' activities were
discarded-not even opened by owners. SF Department of Public Health closures
were overturned.
> Shilts coverage possiblye elected Harvey Milk as the first Homosexual
elected government official. That is before Ellen Degeneres and lover Anne
Heche( a long forgot "Another World" alumni) made coming out financially
profitable.
> Now homosexuals "get famous". Shilt's THE MAYOR OF CASTRO STREET
describes White Night. When Supervisor Milk and Mayor Moscone's assasination by
a bigoted supervisor was "successfully" defended. Murder Dan White was impaired
by the sugar in too many twinkies.
> Now there are AIDs walks and fund raisers with well dressed people.
The first was on May 2,1983 with "Fighting For Our Lives". Thousands of
emmaciated PWA's staggered 2.5 miles from Castro/Market to The Civic Center.
> At Castro/Market (in honor of Milk) waves a flag that could cover a
baseball diamond. The pole as tall as the stadium. Hundreds of AIDS Posters
advertise the dozens of AIDS organizations.
> Book stores used to supplement their incomes with back room bath
houses. The same places now solicit tourists to BAND,MAYOR and CONDUCT
UNBECOMING.
> By the end of 1983 SF was the only city to have either a policy or
programs to deal with AIDS. It was also the only media city with a regular AIDS
reporter.
> Instead of February 17 being another media event. For this event, AIDS
ribbons shoud be replaced with HIV Test Results.
> Maybe of some Black Humor Existentialism. While Shilts was dying.
The mainstream media became essentially tabloids. First with the
Kerrigan/Harding short program. Then the never ending long program of a then
long forgotten Buffalo Bill and quasi-49er.
> Instead of 1994 being filled with stories of local Randy Shilts
memorium HIV test centers, promoted by the media. Virtually every city had AIDS
fraud with cures of the month. Like standard nutritional supplements repackaged
as AIDS Immune Enhancers.
> Shilts' memory has been so disgraced. That 4 annual submissions of
this article (updated) have never been published in any newspaper.
> Randy Shilts was not just the first AIDS, but the first openly gay
reporter. He came out in 1971 (without a sit-com to save)at the age of 20.
Graduating from University Of Oregon. Homophobia forced him to his only
offered job in San Mateo.
> Shilts found out the was HIV Positive on March 16,1987. The deay
(intentionally) BAND went to publication via St. Martins Press.
> By Christmas Eve 1993 his left lung collapesed forcing him to finish
CONDUCT in bed. The life that started August 5,1951 in Davenport, Illinois
ended in a now flooded out Guernville ranch 30 miles from THE CITY.
> These events also occured while Shilts was in his final hours.
> Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison was acquitted on 5 counts of misusing
state funds and employees for political purposes. THE GOP celebrated the end of
a Texas Democrat Conspiracy.
> A hopefully soon defeated candidate Hillary Clinton received an award
from AIDS Project L.A.
> On February 15, Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov won THE GOLD
MEDAL. Before Kerrigan won the gold according to 126.6 million viewers and all
but one judge.
> February 28th Don't Ask Don't Tell was enacted.
> On February 9 a virologist who's work unintentionally led to HIV's
cause died. He was Howard Martin Temin. Two days after Randy Shilts died, so
did Derek Jaman a British Film Maker and Gay Activist. His low budget surreal
film "Blue" narrated his own fight with AIDS, created after he was nearly
blind.
> On February 15 THE CHRONICLE headlines read: "San Francisco AIDS Peak."
As 28,000 people with HIV/AIDS comprised 4% of The City's population. 48
hours later, Randy Shilts would make it 27,999.
> Next Thursday,February 17, if you haven't had a recent HIV Test. Before
sitting down for Must See TV. Self-proclaim Must See if HIV.
> An AIDS author and Miami reporter claims that someday when AIDS is
history. When people are no longer dying. When there is a "AIDS Morning After
Pill." Randy Shilts will be then be a hero.
> This article, first posted on The Internet isn't waiting that long.
WE'LL FIND TOMORROW.....
ARTICLE II
> In between Nancy Kerrigan not being "Golden" in February 1994 and O.J.
not being guilty in October 1995. About 20 million Americans replaced
pre-empted programs, not with Tanya and Nicole but with THE NET and E-Mail.
> By Clinton's not being impeached. The promises of easy, inexpensive mass
e-mail, with only a computer purchase. Became more like Pointed Finger
Presidential Promises.
> There were hundreds of thousands of Mom and Pop stores who spent entire
payrolls. Lured into believing that mass email was their stone that would slay
their local Goliath's.
> Billions of dollars (collectively) were spent for a product (and a
mirage) never developed. Yet, no Attorney General has ever prosecuted ISP's for
what could be called: Fraud, Breach of Public Contract etc.
> Cyber-stalkers called Anti-Spammers rushed out like inside aTrojan Horse.
> A single Anti-Spammer recipient( even if the only objector of millions)
can file an "abuse" complaint. Closing the senders Internet ability, resulting
in lost thousands of dollars until service is restored. Usually with another
Internet Service Provider(ISP).
> There is hardly ever any type of due process, revealed complaintant's
identity or senders' renumeration. ISP contracts clearly prohibit harassment or
intentional damage to others. Yet, Anti-Spammers have that has their only
tactics.
> Anti-Spammers are those who cyber-organize (via The Net) to stop the
sending of "unsolicited" mass e-mail. The primary E-organization
"cyber-existance" (CAUCE et al.) demonstrate that superificiality doesn't
prevent activism.
> Legislators (lobbied probably with spam) take time away from the
thousands of problems involving life vs. death, poverty, violence, drugs etc.
That is, to help people who claim victimization of spending at most 1 minute
per week deleting e-mail.
> People desperately in need of their legislators response suffer or even
die. Yet, in two years more spam legislation has been passed then was even
introduced until the 4,000th AIDS death.
> It took a century from the Civil War until Civil Rights. It took a 150
years for women to be able to even vote. Yet, Spam already has more done both
legislatively and commercially.
> Surreally smart computer and electronic people could be developing
bionics for paraplegics, optics for the blind, cures for diseases (e.g.)
Instead, they develop spam blocking hardware/software. So people don't have to
move their index finger 1/64 of an inch maybe 10 times a day.
> Besides the surreally inexcusable anti-spam legislative patronization.
There is a mind numbing maze of "unsolicited" defined, implied and applied.
Anti-spammers are so lazy (think they are horrified by moving a finger), they
stole the name of canned meat.
> Which absurdity to elaborate first?
> In 100% anti-spammers compliance. One first has to call a recipient
seeking permission to send email. Which would necessitate an unsolicited e-mail
or call.
> According to Anti-Spammers netiquette (rules to follow on The Net).
Postings and advertisements (like this newspaper's Letters) to send comments to
an e-mail address doesn't constitute not being "unsolicited". Following
anti-spammers netiquette. Anyone wanting to send a Letter To The Editor would
first have to get permission to exercise the Freedom of Speech.
> According to Anti-Spammers. A job seeker can't send multiple resumes,
even to employers who have publicly (but not interpersonally) requested. Any
form of The Internet equivalent of photocopying then posting (via newsgroups)
or mailing would be illegal. Yes, illegal, like fines, jail etc.
> Anti-spammers likely first initiated their desires by unsolicited contact
with legislators and ISP's. They also violate their own policies by sending
unsolicited notifications to original senders.
> According to Anti-Spammers it would be illegal (yes, courts, jail etc)
for a parent to send e-mail to a son/daughter without prior approval. A sick
person could be imprisoned for spontaneously e-mailing a doctor.
> In July 1999, I was threatened by A.R.I.S., a Santa Clara,California
AIDS organization including them in a list offering to volunteer as a
care-giver.
> One can only have nightmare estimates how many tens of thousands of
deaths have resulted in anti-spam idiocy. Not just from Kerrigan-Era businesses
that closed hoping for mass e-mail. Resulting in homelessness of owners and
employers.
> Legislators could be drafting bills that could fund medical research,
outlaw lethal products, rehabilitate convicts before release. Instead of doing
life saving tasks. They are dealing with people who find moving a finger a
problem.
> In almost every seemingly superificial concern there is some element of
respect due. But, this one has none.
> In the last year or so, anti-spammers have also included in their
cyber-stalking the new rule of newsgroup spamming. Summarizing an encyclopedia
explanation. It would be illegal to post any slightly dissenting or remotely
irrelevant opinion.
> Anti-spammers absurdity claims mass e-mailing is free. Somehow
disregarding mass e-mailers $1,500-ish computer purchase, $20-ish monthly ISP
fee. The increased phone and electric bill.
> E-Mail Lists also cost considerable either in payment or time to
self-build mostly with online time, which most mass emailers have to pay.
> Anti-Spammers also practice if you can't dazzle them with brilliance,
Baffle them with.... Their websites contain pages of technical BS. Yet, no
even unfathomable amount of mass emailing would cause any noticeable hardships
of subscriber increases.
> It's terrorizing thinking of 1st Amendment Civil Rights violation
imposed by Anti-Spammers. Extending their manifest. This newspaper could be
forced to close and be punished. That is, if one copy was ever delivered to a
single person who didn't give permission to recieve.
> Similarly for TV stations airing "unsolicited commercials". Etc. Etc.
> Anti-spammers ultimate objective offers no stated visible public
benefit.
> Eliminating junk paper mail save trees or the energy needed to
recycle.
> Eliminating "junk billboards" would enhance driving safety and save
lives.
> Poorly posted or door canvassed flyers causes litter. Telemarketing is
beyond annoying. One door-to-door sales call can create a domino-effect of
dozens of barking dogs, infants waking, possibly police action when a serious
crime is occuring.
> As for endless repetitive unsolicited TV commercials, this newspapers
annoying size on Sunday(filled with unsolicited and mostly discarded ads).
> E-mail makes no noise. Doesn't deplete one ozone molecule. Doesn't blow
off door rails. Doesn't distract while doing other things. Doesn't get mixed in
with bills. Doesn't get repeated a dozen times a night like commercials.
Doesn't make newspapers bigger and more environmentally destructive.
> In the approximate 3 year existance of mass e-mail. Maybe a dozen vain
women have cracked a finger nail clicking delete. No Internet Service Provider
has every claimed to increase decrease rates based on mass email.
> Americans are exposed to about 1,000 unsolicited promotions,
pontifications even ponderings from waking to sleeping. Yet, few non-businesses
recieve more than 10 emails daily.
> Anti-spammers have also self-spent and raised millions to pay people to
report spammers. The rewards claimed paid in a day could (for coincidental ?)
example get every San Francisco Homeless person off the street for a week.
> The funds from this nationally syndicated editorial are so dedicated.
Thanks to this newspaper for their donation and welcome Investigative Reporting
to insure my claim.
> No other medium offers such a great humanitarian application, and
accessability elaborated in this article's sidebar. If anti-spammers acted for
pubic benefit the following could have materialized.
SIDEBAR:
> Your child is 2 hours past curfew. A family member has been missing for
days. Your dog is lost. Someone just stole your car. You've just been broken
into. You've been raped,or assaulted.
> All these crisis and an universe of others could utilize easy mass
e-mail. Like that was promoted and prophesized in early 1995.
> My library's outdated Internet (1994, 1995) manuals write of e-mail
addreses published like phone books. Local businesses, charities, churches
would be able to easily compile all their local e-mail addresses. Like they
gather addresses and phone numbers.
> Financially enhanced mass e-mailers could buy thousands of harvested
lists on CD-ROM's . Ready for downloading into E-Mail forms. An entire metro
area zip codes' disk would be about $100.
> Directories would give just a PEAS list by zip code without matching real
names with public screen names. Senders could, thus select entire areas or just
PEAS within as small as the 4 digit extension.
> Of course, with simple user friendly instructions.
> Research (well known to ISP's) indicated mass e-mail was the only reason
millions spent thousands of dollars and maybe 100-ish hours relocating to THE
INTERNET.
> Had ISP's co-ordinated to facilitate easy mass e-mail. Kids could e-mail
their neighborhood about a lost dog, selling of girl scout cookies, offer snow
shoveling to the elderly, etc.
> Churches and charities could raise funds. Hospitals could seek emergency
blood donations for an operation "tomorrow". Police could use mass email to
track down criminals. Not just locally but nationally or targeted just to the
city a fugitive is deemed bound.
> Divorcees could get e-mail disks for cities deadbeat parents are
suspected. LIkewise for abducted children or the runaway homeless.
> Had Mark Klauss been able to mass e-mail every 415, 510 and 650 area code
PEAS as soon as he noticed Polly's abduction. Whoever took Polly wouldn't have
made it over THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE with probably 250,000 Bay Area Netizens
knowledgeable as soon as they checked their Public Email Address Box.
> Of course, Robert Stack would never have hosted UNSOLVED MYSTERIES. What
would Lifetime TV show all day?
> Mass e-mail would be sent to a legally mandatory Public E-Mail Address.
Instead of ridiculous Anti-Spammers there would be life saving PEAS. Each ISP
account would be required to have a screen name "user@host.pu? : .pub for
businesses, .pur for residents. .puc for charities/churches etc.
> It would be technologically impossible for any more than 10 simultaneous
e-mailings to anything but .pu's.
> Like( or even actually in) record stores one could purchase CD-ROMS
with PEAS for thousands of zip codes. Or blank, formatted CD-RAMS disks to self
customize using Book compilations at Libraries.
> People without incomes for PC's would have PEAS through
"Yahoo.Public.com" (et al.) They would also be available for any wise enough to
foresee daily possible necessity. Such as women who work late in high crime
areas.
> Area PEAS disk and public PEAS would have built in. Instant Message
technology to Fire, Hospital and Police icon selection for emergecies.
> Not only could PEAS save lives, long before any police, or media could
offer assistance. It would be fun to check out what emergency might be occuring
in one's area.
> Local stores could replace junk mail (such as coupons) with PEAS. The
number of PEAS benefits could be a daily beat in this newspaper.
> As would the surreal number of customers, agencies, governments et al.
who would find the individual costs minimal to the benefits.
> While there has never been anything more ridiculous and destructive as
ANTI-SPAMMERS. There could not be anything more beneficial to society than
PEAS.
