As the wise man once said, "Don't believe everything you read." I couldn't
help but notice this thread, and thought I'd share my experience with
Ameritech and ISDN. I live in Akron, and punched in my area code and exchange
on the Ameritech TEAMDATA web page to checkout ISDN availability in my
neighborhood. It spit back that it was available, and even had an 800 number
to call and order ISDN with a Motorola BitsurfrPro terminal adapter.

So, I call the 800 number, and the rep on the other end of the line takes all
the info, gives me a confirmation number, and says that it'll be installed in
2 weeks. The next day, I get a call from someone at the "Ameritech ISDN
Procurement Center" (whatever THAT is) in Chicago who tells me
"Whoops...ha,ha,ha....you're screwed. You're switch is not scheduled to be
ISDN capable until July 1997. Sorry." Oh, I could still get it, if I wanted to
pay an additional $250 for installation and $98/month more over the quoted
rate of $48. Obviously, you knew my answer.

Just another example of how Ameritech is YOUR LINK TO BETTER COMMUNICATION.
