I have recently completed work on a web site that I hope will be of
interest to people in Columbus and Akron. (I grew up in Akron and I live
in Columbus, in case you're wondering.) I hope to expand this at some
point, but for now, let's see how it works locally.

Sometime in the past year or so, an idea started forming in the recesses
of my brain. In that time, I bought a house and I got married. I was
constantly trying to find out about local businesses. I needed to know
who the best caterer was, which plumber to call and which furniture
store to avoid. (I learned that last one the hard way.)

I built a web site out of spare parts and spare time, had a bunch of
friends and acquaintances take a look at it, and now I'm ready to try it
out on a wider audience. Which brings us to this: ***

It's a place where you can rate local businesses, and see how they rate
with others in the area. The idea is nothing new, but hopefully this is
a better implementation of the concept than anything else out there. It
may not be glamorous or exciting, but I think it could really be a
powerful tool if enough people are participating.

Oh, and I should mention, it's free.
