My husband's thru his defunct business got a letter from the Fischer School of Business here in Columbus, Ohio. He can pay $199 and go listen to stories about the real challenges of leadership in this country. This is the largest leadership event of 2002. Dear me, Rudy Giuliani and Steve Welch will present a special program. Steve Welch finagled a billion dollar retirement package for himself as CEO of GE; and Rudy is getting lots of money for telling people what he did on 9-11. As if that money could possibly belong to him or from what I understand his ex-wife. How can these men symbolize our new future? These men belong to our past and this peculiar concept that most retirement income should go to a certain select few. For this, people need to pay $199? They are retirees, who have already made their contributions, such that they be. I grant there were people who worked on 9-11 - plenty of them (some of them led the mayor to safety among other things) but so far very few if any of the ones who actually worked have gotten paid for making speeches about what they did. I have a terrible toothache, so perhaps I am meaner than I need to be.
